CAMPING – FESTIVALS TENT TO BE GLORIOUS

Festivals are amazing places to be. And, as it happens, it’s mostly impossible to think of sleeping when you’re getting ready to party like crazy. But for a complete camping experience, make sure you’re packing everything you could possibly need for that festival camping to be awesome.

Happy girl festival camping

This ranges from towels, which you can use to dry up your tent in case of a short and moody afternoon rain to dry shampoo to always look your best – you can’t afford to look like a hippie grinch in the festival photos!

In-Tents Preparations

The camping area will be open from Thursday, May 31st, 16:00 until Monday, June 4th, 09:00.

During this time, if you’re the happy owner of a Camping Pass, you’re welcome to get in and out of the camping area as many times as you please.

If you don’t have a Camping Pass, you can upgrade your Festival Pass with a Camping Pass on the spot. Otherwise, you’re not going to be allowed in the camping area, so you’re going to have to party non-stop!

We’re kidding. You can always check out the accommodation options available around you.

If you’ve got a van/RV ticket, you can enter the camping area with your vehicle. Otherwise, you’ll need to leave it in the parking until you leave the festival grounds.

Because we care about your stay here, you’ll be provided with all kinds of 21st century facilities such as showers, toilets, markets and utilities.

You’re not allowed with any kind of food from the outside. Make sure you’ve read the rules and regulations.

RULES OF THUMB

There’s nothing you can’t do at a festival, as long as it complies with the organizer’s rules. Don’t worry, we’re pretty cool people and we know you’re here to have fun.

People at festival

We can’t wait to see you at the festival, and here are some of this edition’s rules:

  • Kids under 14 have free access must be accompanied by their parents/legal representatives & have a written parental agreement;
  • Kids between 14-18 pay the tickets full-price, and must also have a written parental agreement from their parents/legal representatives;
  • Underage people are not allowed in the VIP area;
  • Underage people cannot consume alcohol;

We’re truly sorry to break this to you, but we won’t allow the access with DSLRs. Or large selfie sticks, for that matter.

Umbrellas, sunbrellas or folding chairs are also prohibited. We care about everybody’s experience and wouldn’t want to hurt people. Find out more about things you should leave at home and things you should remember to pack.

If you’ve got questions of any kind about what’s permitted, what’s frowned upon and what will get you out of the festival, read the extended version of our rules and regulations.

MUSIC FEELS LIKE HOME – BUILDING THE AFTERHILLS HOUSE

Not all superheroes wear capes. Some build houses for people in need.

This year, we’ve partnered with Casa Share, these amazing people who make the world a better place.

Music Feels Like Home

Goal: €20.000

We’re helping build a house for a family in need.

How Do We Help? A Share for Casa Share

For each share of the AFTERHILLS page post of the Facebook event, we’ll donate an amount of money for this project to turn into reality.

Stay close until we make the event public, and spread the word!

How Can You Help? Donate At The Festival

  1. You’ll recognize the CasaShare house immediately as you enter the festival.
  2. You can donate any amount of money, either through the RFID wristband or in cash.

Not All Heroes Wear Capes

Why Would You Help?

The best journeys in life are shared. You can make a tangible difference in someone’s standard of living with a minimum of effort. Most of the times, fundraisers are more effective when they appeal to a larger number of people who donate small amounts, rather than small numbers of people willing to contribute with larger amounts.

In itself, this fact makes a very important statement about how much change a small gesture can bring.

ARTCAMP – DARE OR BE SQUARE

Dare or be square!

The beauty of a festival lies in people’s freedom to design their own experiences. We believe in creating your own oasis of peace and dreams come true.

This year, be a #dreamer and join the dozens of installations that we’re showcasing during the festival.

Unleash your inner artist and play in our ArtCamp with a series of exhibitions and installations designed especially to turn up the love.

Dare to step into a dynamic art jukebox, where both well-known and emerging artists display their original ideas, to add up to your experience.

Have a heart full of good vibrations and a vision of your own. Make your dreams come true and give a voice to the artist within.

COMEDY STAGE – WE PUT ART IN PARTY

Costumed actor

Authentic art is worth celebrating in all its forms. AFTERHILLS proudly introduces the COMEDY Stage, a magical place of improv battles, theatre, and stand-up comedy.

This national premiere is the first step of a consistent attempt to fully diversify the festival experience in Romania.

There’s More To Art Than Meets The Eye

Festivaliers are so different not just because everyone is unique, but because our tastes are shaped by who we are. The aim of this crossover experience is to empower people to live their craziest dreams and to give a voice to their most unusual tastes.

To get there, we must first cover the main art forms that the Romanian public appreciates, and stand-up comedy, contemporary theatrical representations, and improv battles are a significant part of a complete live experience.

Because true #dreamers laugh in their heads just as much as they do out loud, come and enjoy a truly diverse #crossover festival.

The Comedy Stage is a perfect opportunity to diversify our repertoire and to allow people to have unlimited fun of all kinds. The value behind a crossover artistic experience is not having to narrow down the possibilities. Instead, we offer a wide range of activities and performances that celebrate art in all its forms.

FESTIVAL ACTIVITIES – DAYDREAMING

From creative sessions to art workshops, there’s nothing you should miss during the #dayfun at AFTERHILLS.

Your holiday deserves to be complete, which is why the festival is designed to offer you dozens of creative activities.

Give a voice to the artist within, or just grab a graffiti spray or a yoga mat and let’s make it memorable.

Diversify Your Festival Fun

Festival activities are different and engaging, so that you best enjoy your crossover experience. There are dozens of ways to spend your day, from wall climbing to escape rooms.

Turn the contents of your mind to life. Enjoy a variety of fun festival activities, from land art and painting to sculpture, readymades and pretty much everything else.

Festivals are made for fun, so make your stay here memorable. You don’t have to jump around all day to make sure you’ve lived a complete festival experience.

Au contraire, our friend! You can enjoy every second of your sunny festival days chillin’ on a hammock or sipping beer like a boss in the festival Beer Garden.

FOOD AND DRINKS – UP YOUR GAME

Food truck

Food is art, and cocktails are a thing of genius.

Enjoy it all at AFTERHILLS, just the way you’ve been dreaming all year long. Delish foods are not something rare and pretentious, they’re part of a full festival fun.

Creative chefs share their vision and their works of art, so that you can savour every bite of your experience.

Funky baristas prepare the ultimate flavours for your taste, and cocktails are best shaken to the music rhythm.

Art To The Next Level

We feature a variety of ambrosial foods and drinks especially created to accompany you in this four-day journey. The diversity of our culinary art is our tastiest surprise for you.

The captains of this industry have already engaged in the challenge – an outdoor experience like no other.

We don’t think of food as being just a way to bottle up nutrients, just like we don’t think of a movie as a way to kill two hours of your time.

That’s why we’ve designed majestic artistic experiences that thrill all your senses.

HOW TO PACK LIGHTLY FOR A FESTIVAL

Festivals are some of the best inventions since sliced bread. However, you have to be properly prepared to enjoy them to the fullest.

Festival people

The devil is in the details, indeed.

Something apparently minor, like forgetting your sunglasses at home, can soon become your worst nightmare.

1. Always have your ID on you.

In case the festival access is made based on a printed ticket, make sure you take that as well. If you’re underage, you should present a written parental agreement.

2. Wardrobe

Festival Outfit

First, you have to make sure you’ve got enough clothes for your entire stay. Then, you should pack entire outfits, not just separate clothing items. See what goes with what and be ready to party.

Make sure you don’t pack overalls. We know how cool they are, but they’re not reliable, especially because going to the toilet would take you 5 hours.

Have a rain-cloak and rubber boots. True heroes care about their health. While we’re here, accessories are important, so don’t leave home without sunglasses.

3. Toiletries

Nobody leaves home without a toothbrush.

But take care not to forget a shower gel, toilet rolls, deodorant, towels and a hand sanitizing gel. Of course, dry shampoo can make your life easier.

Ear plugs and eye masks can come in handy if you’re staying in the festival camping, depending on how much the party keeps going during the night.

4. A Bag to Rule Them All

You need a huge backpack to carry everything to the festival. But once you get here, you will find a tiny backpack comes in handy – to keep your tiny possessions with you all day long.

5. Surviving a Festival In Style If You’re a Girl

Girls Festival Outfit

Light and flowy dresses are a must at a festival, and they have to be accompanied by funky hats. Since it’s recommended to cover your ears anyway, might as well do it in style.

Bug sprays can come in handy, especially if you’ve got sensitive skin.

Wet wipes are not recommended as shower replacement, but there are situations when they come in handy. If there is any kind of emergency you need to solve on the spot, wet wipes are great. But take care of how you dispose of them, as they contain plastic fibres.

6. Make Camping Great Again

Girl in Festival Camping

Regardless of whether you want to wash your hair or will just clean it with dry shampoo, extra towels are always terrific life-savers. The most useful thing you can do with one, as a camper, is to dry it after a short episode of rain.

Water, ice and everything nice. It is best not to live the essentials up to someone else. Depending on the festival, you may be allowed to bring your own water. In case you can only use the camping water, make sure you bring a cooler – especially if your festival takes place during the hot season.
